Outside of the 1967 Kinks’ Live At Kelvin Hall LP there hasn’t ever been a representative recording of the Kinks earliest brush with fame and their nascent early live rhythm & blues repertoire from 1964-65. That is, until this LP. It wasn’t until well into the video years that such things appeared from the vaults of European television, long locked away after their initial airings in 1965. What we have collected here are the audio tracks of shows spaced throughout 1965, when the group was right at the peak of their onstage power – a solid representation of the Kinks at the peak of their popularity in the mid-60s, warts and all. It all adds up to a wonderful reminder of what initially helped make them uproariously famous.
