Description

This is not a Beatles Live LP. It is an attempt to conjure up the atmosphere of a Beatles show from 1961 by taking the first documented Beatles set list and presenting the songs they sang in the order in which they were performed. In order to enhance the fantasy listening experience, live performances of the music have been used where available.

Drummer John Cochrane of Wump & His Werbles transcribed this list of songs the Beatles played when the two groups performed together at the Aintree Institute sometime in January/February 1961. The date can’t be pinned down to anything more specific than somewhere between the release date of the most recent record the Beatles played that night (The Shirelles Boys issued in January 1961) and the group’s departure for a season at the Top Ten Club in Hamburg at the end of March 1961.

But then again, it may have been at the Lathom Hall in Seaforth…
